We are Anthony Munoz and Vivian Alvarez, creators and owners of The Naked Candle Company.

Vivian and I have had the benefit of knowing each other since we were kids, and after a few years of moving around, both our families ended up in Calgary, Alberta. Our families have always been very close and, long story short, we got married in 2021!

We had always talked about possibly starting a business for ourselves and what that would look like. After considering realistic options and our own personal interests, we thought that the candle industry would be a great fit.

In late 2022, after much planning and consideration, I decided to leave my current job and dedicate myself to this project alongside Vivian. We decided on the name and the driving force behind our company: The Naked Candle Company. The motivation? We found it along the way by understanding our innate desire to follow our interests while contributing to the collective good.

Essentially, we realized that we wanted to make the most of living in a country where we had opportunities that our parents might not have had for themselves, and take advantage of the new possibilities given to us because of their sacrifices as immigrants. We felt that this project, The Naked Candle Company, was within our reach and capabilities to seize those same opportunities. 

After months of working on this project, and with the hope of many years to come, we understand that what we value is living in a country that allows us to pursue our individual interests while also upholding the responsibility of contributing to the economy's collective good. How do we do this through candles? By striving to offer livable wages and jobs for individuals who are also looking for the same opportunities Vivian and I had. We believe that while pursuing personal interests is important, you will ultimately benefit as an individual when you make an effort to contribute to the collective good.

We hope to embody these ideals through this project, and though it is only in its early stages, we see the potential ahead and sincerely believe in what we're doing. We are incredibly grateful for anyone who helps us bring this project to fruition by supporting our business.
